Happy Mother’s Day!
We honor the women in our lives today for their contribution to our well-being and character, as well as for their service to the life of the church. Today as we remember our mothers, we pray for all the women who mean so much to us and for the women in society who are so vital to our daily lives.
“Can a mother forget the baby at her breast and have no compassion on the child she has borne?” (Isaiah 49:15a)
Prayers of Thanks
- For our mother’s willingness to provide us with life
- For our mother’s patience and hard work in raising us
- For all the women who nurture us, guide us, and play important roles in our lives and the lives of our children
Prayers of Blessing for All the Women in Our Lives
- May God reveal Himself to them
- May they draw nearer and nearer to God
- May God guide them and give wisdom for each day
- May God heal all their hurts and comfort all their sorrows
- May God grant them strength and good health
- May God provide for all their needs
- May we be a blessing to them
“As a mother comforts her child, so will I comfort you.” (Isaiah 66:13)
The church office will be closed for the holiday.
We encourage you to pray:
Look to the LORD and His strength; seek His face always. Remember the wonders He has done, His miracles, and the judgments He pronounced. (1 Chronicles 16:11-12)
Praying for those who have lost loved ones in combat or military service
- For those mourning and hurting from the loss of a loved one
- For the difficult adjustments military families have to make
- For emotional, financial, and practical support for children who have lost a parent and adults who have lost a spouse
Pray for those who have been wounded in military service
- For physical healing and for emotional strength in dealing with a difficult wound
- For adjustment to a new lifestyle, for future opportunities to open up, for employment and provision
- For healing of emotional wounds like post traumatic stress disorder, lingering guilt, or difficulty re-entering society after service
Pray for those in active service in the military
- For them to perform their duties faithfully and honorably
- That their service will help bring about peace and justice
- For their protection and safety
Thank God
- Remembering God’s works and the sacrifice of Jesus for our eternal life
- Remembering God’s blessings and the freedoms we have where we live
- Remembering that God is Lord of all people and holds the whole world in His hands

This is what the LORD says: “Let not the wise man boast of his wisdom or the strong man boast of his strength or the rich man boast of his riches, but let him who boasts boast about this: that he understands and knows Me, that I am the LORD, Who exercises kindness, justice and righteousness on earth, for in these I delight,” declares the LORD. (Jeremiah 9:23-24)
We hope you are able to relax and spend time with people you love on this Labor Day holiday.

A Labor Day Prayer
By John Calvin
My God, Father and Savior, since You have commanded us to work in order to meet our needs, sanctify our labor that it may bring nourishment to our souls as well as to our bodies.
Make us constantly aware that our efforts are worthless unless guided by Your light and by Your hand.
Make us faithful to the particular tasks for which You have bestowed upon us the necessary gifts, taking from us any envy or jealousy at the vocations of others.
Give us a good heart to supply the needs of the poor, saving us from any desire to exalt ourselves over those who receive our bounty.
And if You should call us into greater poverty than we humanly desire, save us from any spirit of defiance or resentment, but rather let us graciously and humbly receive the bounty of others.
Above all, may every temporal grace be matched by spiritual grace, that in both body and soul we may live to Your glory.
