Community Outreach
Each fall for the past 6 years Redeemer has intentionally shut down our Sunday worship for one week in order to do outreach and evangelism in our community. We called this Harvest Sunday.
This year will be a different twist on that idea. Having sensed the Holy Spirit nudging us to step out in faith, we will be intentionally reaching out to nearby apartment residents.
10:45 a.m. – Special Worship Service** at church
11:15 a.m. – Head to the apartments to host a free barbecue lunch for all of the residents! (We will drive/carpool to nearby apartments.)
Watch for signups in the church foyer to help with the various activities.
**PLEASE NOTE: Sunday school classes and Children’s Church will not meet.
**Nursery care will be provided during the service only.
**There will be no evening service this year.
Be a Good Neighbor!
Saturday, May 30
TIME: 9:00 a.m.
PLACE: The corner of McCoy and Golden Gate
Palisades Point HOA (the neighborhood immediately south of Redeemer) won a grant to improve their entryway sign and landscaping.
Throughout the month of May they will be working on Saturday mornings to put the new improvements in.
They need our help: On May 30 they will be planting larger trees and need some extra hands on deck to help. They will be starting at 9 a.m. on the corner of McCoy and Golden Gate – mere feet from Redeemer’s property.
Not only do we need to be a good neighbor, but the Palisades Point HOA has been incredibly supportive of us. Without them, our land deal may never have passed through Planning and Zoning.
Let’s show our support and be a good neighbor by joining in both on the 30th.
Youth Facilitate EdenTree Kids’ Club on Wednesdays This Summer
What: CREW Youth Ministry will continue its partnership with the wonderful residents of EdenTree Apartments for the third summer by leading the new EdenTree Kids’ Club program “100-Page Summer.” In this program, CREW youth will help children entering kindergarten through 5th grade keep up with their literacy and reading comprehension throughout the summer.
- Books for the program will have Christian themes, and youth will lead discussions about the books and themes to help disciple the children.
- Our youth will also lead arts and crafts each week and will play games and sports with the children
- If children read at least 100 pages over the summer, they will receive an award and gift card!
- We always look for ways to empower the residents and children at EdenTree to take leadership in and ownership of Kids’ Club.
Why: We want to support the learning and success of children in our community and their ability to help other family members thrive by promoting literacy in the summer months when the children are not in school. We have four goals:
- Comprehension – To increase reading comprehension amongst students and to encourage a greater comprehension of the Christian faith amongst us all
- Confidence – To develop students’ confidence in their reading ability, in their relationships with God, and in their abilities to be good leaders
- Connection – To deepen relationships with our neighbors, to connect with God through our neighbors and through each other, to connect with one another, and to help our neighbors connect with God
- Christ – To form Christ-like community in our relationship with EdenTree, to seek Christ’s image in each person, and to navigate one another to Christ through our words, our deeds, and our love
When: EdenTree Kids’ Club takes place every Wednesday this summer through August 19 (except on July 8 for VBS and July 15 for CHIC) at EdenTree.
Students will meet at Redeemer at 6:45 and walk to EdenTree.
