Palm Sunday Worship Service
Sunday, March 20, 10:45 a.m.
Palm Sunday, or “Passion Sunday,” acknowledges the momentary elation of the followers of Jesus as He rode into the city of Jerusalem one week prior to Easter Sunday. The celebrative nature of the day gives rise to expressions of joy, like waving palms. However, as we worship, we are aware of the tension between triumph and passion, because the events of the coming week leading to the cross are already in sight.
Redeemer’s children help us celebrate this day with a processional of waving palm branches.

Good Friday Tenebrae Service
March 25, 7:30 p.m.
On Good Friday, we remember Christ’s suffering and death. His self-sacrifice is good to us who believe because it paid for our debt of sin and opened the way for our reconciliation with God.
The Service of Tenebrae (“shadows”) uses the gradual extinguishing of the lights and candles to symbolize the flight of the apostles and the darkness and disturbance that accompanied Christ’s passion. The central purpose of the service is for us to encounter the reality of Christ’s death and admit our part in it.

Easter Sunday – March 27
Easter Sunday is the most glorious of all days and begins the Christian season of Eastertide, the season celebrating the fact that Jesus is alive and death has been conquered! This is critical because the Christian hope of eternal life is contingent upon the resurrection of Jesus Christ. The Easter season lasts for fifty days and centers on the resurrection appearances of the Lord between Easter Sunday and His ascension.
